Emory & Henry Men’s Wrestling Competes At The Cougar Duals Sunday

DANVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Wrestling Team was back in action on Sunday, competing at the Cougar Duals hosted by Averett University. The Wasps wrestled in five different dual matches against a combination of NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA opponents.

Averett 56, Emory & Henry 0
- The Cougars picked up the sweep including four forfeit wins in unfilled weight classes.
- E&H junior Thomas Roberts (Luttrell, Tenn.) earned a 4-0 decision victory in exhibition.

Montreat 41, Emory & Henry 11
- Montreat opened the match with 30 points for unfilled weight classes.
- The Wasps grabbed a win at 157 pounds as freshman Levi Field (Manassas, Va.) won by technical fall, 15-0.
- E&H's other victory came by pin with sophomore Wade Wheeler (Amherst, Va.) winning in 2:14.

Glenville State 54, Emory & Henry 12
- The action began with GSC taking a 30-6 advantage from forfeits. Field got the benefit of a forfeit at the 157-pound class.
- Wheeler earned his second win by fall on the day, defeating his opponent in 5:33.

Greensboro 44, Emory & Henry 12
- Greensboro led 30-6 to get things started as freshman Tito Hernandez (Shelbyville, Tenn.) won by forfeit for the Wasps at 125 pounds.
- Field picked up a win, pinning his opponent in 2:01.
- Wheeler posted a hard-fought match, dropping a 3-1 decision in the first sudden victory period.

Limestone 52, Emory & Henry 6
- The Saints started with a 30-0 lead over the Wasps.
- Field pinned his opponent for his third victory in four matches as he won in 6:51.

Up Next
- The Wasps will return to action following Winter Break at the NUWAY College Open National Championships on Thursday, January 6. The event is taking place at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.
- Friday's home dual match against Southwest Virginia Community College has been cancelled.
