Emory & Henry Wrestling Competes At The NUWAY College Open Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Wrestling Teams returned to action on Thursday at the NUWAY College Open. The event was held as part of the NCWA/USMC Multi-Division National Dual Championships at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

The Basics

The Men
- At the 285-pound weight class, junior Thomas Roberts (Luttrell, Tenn.) finished second as he went 4-1 on the day. Roberts won twice by fall and one by decision before losing late in the third round of the championship bout to Cameron Mayes-Butler of Indiana Tech.
- Also at 285, sophomore Wade Wheeler (Amherst, Va.) went 4-1 on his way to a third-place finish. He grabbed wins by major decision, fall and decision in the winner's bracket before closing things out with a no-contest victory and a win by forfeit to take third.
- Freshman Levi Field (Manassas, Va.) reached the third round of the winner's bracket at the 157-pound weight class, advancing on a bye and a forfeit. He picked up two wins by fall and one by decision on his way to the seventh round of the consolation bracket before exiting the tournament.

The Women
- Junior Andreia Langley (Chilhowie, Va.) placed third at 191 pounds as she went 3-2 on the day. She earned wins by fall, decision and forfeit.
- At 130 pounds, freshman MaryAnne Walker (Manchester, Tenn.) advanced to the semifinals of the winner's bracket with a win by fall. She won in the consolation bracket semifinals by pin before losing in the third-place bout by technical superiority.
