Emory & Henry Men’s Wrestling Competes At Averett Cougar Duals Saturday

DANVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Wrestling Team (1-8) competed at the Cougar Duals hosted by Averett University on Saturday, December 9. The Wasps faced off against five different squads in duals, picking up a victory over Waynesburg University.

Fairmont State 43, Emory & Henry 9
- The dual began at 12-0 in favor of Fairmont State due to forfeits.
- The Wasps earned a win at 157 pounds as freshman Isaac Harris (Berkeley Springs, Va.) won by fall at the 4:11 mark.
- Freshman A.J. Marshall (Culpeper, Va.) was victorious at 174 pounds as he topped Elijah Wellings-Osha by a 12-8 decision.

Ferrum 45, Emory & Henry 9
- The Panthers held a 12-0 advantage to begin the dual due to unfilled weight classes.
- Harris picked up another win at 157 pounds, this victory coming by an 11-8 decision over Tyler Ramirez.
- Marshall earned his second win of the day, pinning Zahne Ruiz in 1:40.

Southern Virginia 28, Emory & Henry 19
- The Knights began the dual up 6-0 due to an unfilled weight class.
- Harris earned his third victory of the day at 157 pounds as he topped William Haight by an 18-3 technical fall in 6:34.
- Freshman Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) won at 165 pounds with a 6-1 decision over Calvin Fillmore.
- Junior Tito Hernandez (Shelbyville, Tenn.) pinned Quinn Richards in 3:50 at 125 pounds.
- Sophomore Logan Arnold (Rocky Mount, Va.) earned a win by 20-5 technical fall in 6:40 against John Carlson at 133 pounds.

St Andrews 33, Emory & Henry 19
- The dual began at 18-6 in favor of the Knights due to unfilled weight classes.
- Harris continued his dominant day with a win by a 17-5 major decision over Keagan Bolman.
- Gaberrete was victorious at 165 pounds with his 17-2 technical fall victory over Kameron Ladd in 5:28.
- Marshall won once more at 174 pounds, this time with a 13-3 major decision victory over Zachary Palombaro.

Emory & Henry 47, Waynesburg 12
- E&H started the dual with an 18-6 advantage due to unfilled weight classes.
- Freshman Tristan Lorenz (Fries, Va.) earned a win by fall at 165 pounds over Jamarion Lewis in just 47 seconds.
- Marshall picked up yet another win, this time at 184 pounds, pinning Jessie Orbin in 3:57.
- Sophomore Hunter Brown (Vinton, Va.) earned a win by fall at 285 pounds, pinning Billy Sugden in 1:55.
- Hernandez topped Gavin Novak at 125 pounds, winning by a 22-7 technical fall scoreline in 5:23.
- Sophomore Collin Davidson (Abingdon, Va.) won due to an injury at 149 pounds to round out the scoring.
