No. 2 Lander Men’s Wrestling Takes Down Emory & Henry In Conference Carolinas Dual Thursday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Wrestling Team (1-11, 0-7 Carolinas) fell to No. 2 nationally-ranked Lander University (11-2, 6-0 Carolinas) in a Conference Carolinas dual Thursday afternoon. The Bearcats topped the Wasps by a 45-0 final tally.

The Match
- The dual began at 24-0 in favor of the Bearcats due to unfilled weight classes.
- Junior Tito Hernandez (Shelbyville, Tenn.) put up a battle at 125 pounds, coming up just short against Oren Decker by a close 23-18 decision.
- Freshman Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) fought hard but ran out of time at 165 pounds, falling to Sammy Gerard by an 18-11 decision.
- Freshman A.J. Marshall (Culpeper, Va.) was defeated by Ryan Dobbs of Lander by a 12-3 major decision at 174 pounds.

- Emory & Henry makes the short trip to Bristol, Tennessee on Wednesday, January 31 when they take on border rival King (Tenn.) University in a Conference Carolinas dual. First bout is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as the second half of a doubleheader with the women's team.
