Emory & Henry Men's Wrestling Finishes Sixth At Seminole Rattler Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Wrestling Team competed at the Seminole Rattler Invitational hosted by Florida A&M University on Saturday, February 10. The Wasps saw five wrestlers compete in four different weight classes and freshman A.J. Marshall (Culpeper, Va.) took home medalist honors at 174 pounds. E&H finished sixth as a team out of the 13 competing squads.

141 Pounds
- Sophomore Logan Arnold (Rocky Mount, Va.) started the day with a win by forfeit in the first round before winning by a 16-7 major decision in the second round over Jake Hamiti of Florida Gulf Coast University. Arnold was then defeated by the University of Central Florida's Nicholas Clay in the third round. He bounced back with a victory by fall in 2:05 against Afton Anderson of Kennesaw State University in the consolation bracket. His day ended with a double forfeit against teammate Avery Almany to finish in a tie for sixth.
- Junior Avery Almany (Bristol, Va.) earned a win by fall in 1:46 over Sean Bell of Louisiana Tech University in the first round, then was defeated by the University of Florida's Ethan Vugman by technical fall in the second round. He then picked up back-to-back wins by fall over Juan Bernado Davila of UCF (0:42) and Joshua King of the University of Georgia (2:17). Almany finished tied for sixth after the double forfeit with Arnold. 

165 Pounds
- Freshman Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) fell in his opening bout by a narrow 5-3 decision to Central Florida's Lucas Nieminen, then bounced back with wins by fall over Nick Esposito of Florida Gulf Coast (4:54) and Will Prater of Auburn (4:18). Gaberrete took home a third-place finish after winning his placing match by forfeit over Remington Crieghton of the University of Tampa.

174 Pounds
- Marshall was dominant all day at 174 pounds as he dispatched Brandon Mitchell of Kennesaw State by a 14-0 major decision in the first round then pinned Youssef Khafaga of UCF in just 53 seconds in the second round. He continued his winning ways with a win by fall in 4:01 over Florida State University's William Cole in the fourth round and topped Sean Carroll of Gamecock Wrestling Club by fall in 2:26 in the fifth round. Marshall rounded out his day with a victory by fall in 5:00 over Dylan Kasperzyk of the University of Tampa in the championship match

184 Pounds
- Freshman Tristan Lorenz (Fries, Va.) got off on the right foot with a win by fall in 2:10 over Florida's Sebastian Perez in the first round before losing by fall to Ahmahd Denmark of Florida A&M University in his next bout. He then dropped a 12-6 decision to Drew Doscher of Clemson University in the consolation bracket before ending his day with a 7-4 decision over Daniel Morales of Gamecock Wrestling Club in the seventh-place match.
