GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Emory & Henry University Men's Wrestling Team opened the season at the Glenville State Invite Saturday. The Wasps had eight athletes compete over seven weight classes and finished 12th out of the field of 13 teams.

- Senior Tito Hernandez (Shelbyville, Tenn.) fell by a 15-0 technical fall to Dominic Flatt of Millersville University in the opening Championship Round, before advancing by forfeit in his first consolation bout. He then bowed out by fall in 4:48 to Roberto Garcia of King (Tenn.) University.

- Senior Avery Almany (Bristol, Tenn.) was defeated by a 21-5 technical fall scoreline against Elijah Boyd of Belmont Abbey College in the first Championship Round. Almany bounced back with a win by fall in 2:34 over Davis & Elkins College's Luke Shaffer in his first consolation bout. He followed up with another win by fall, this time in 1:35 against Luke Boram of Belmont Abbey College. Almany was defeated by fall in 2:01 by Gavin Mastrangelo of Emmanuel (Ga.) University to end his tournament.

- Junior Logan Arnold (Rocky Mount, Va.) began his day with a 19-2 technical fall loss to Caleb Wetzel of Ashland University in the first Championship Round. He was then defeated by fall in 0:53 by Gavin Qualls of King to end his day.
149 Pounds
- Freshman Slade Castle (Castlewood, Va.) fell to Daniel Sinclair of Millersville by a 18-1 technical fall scoreline in his opening Championship Round match of the day. Castle then defeated Frostburg State University's Tristen Hawkins by a 12-8 decision to advance in the consolation bracket. Castle's day ended in the next round by fall in 0:27 to Fairmont State's Ryan Martin.
157 Pounds
- Senior Levi Field (Manassas, Va.) was defeated by a 16-1 technical fall in his opening Championship Round by Zander Graham of Ashland. He then fell to Glenville State's Jacob Bowling by a 22-7 technical fall.
- Freshman Zane Perkins (Wytheville, Va.) kicked off his day with a 19-1 technical fall loss to Brennan Watkins of King, then was defeated by fall in his first consolation bout by Ashland's Evan Davis in 4:00.
174 Pounds
- Sophomore Sebastian Gaberrete (Jeffersonton, Va.) fell in a tough opening bout by fall in 6:41 to Zachary Holston of Glenville State. He then dropped his consolation bout by a 21-3 technical fall scoreline to King's Vincent Galang.
197 Pounds
- Redshirt freshman Evan Alger (Pulaski, Va.) received a pair of byes to advance through the opening two Championship rounds of competition. He then was defeated by fall in 1:07 by Caleb Moore of Belmont Abbey. Alger responded by pinning Findlay's Luke Sparkman in 3:25 in his first consolation bout. Alger bowed out with a loss by fall in 2:23 to Nathan Coley of King in the following consolation round.
