Alana Walker Named To All-NIRA Honorable Mention Team

EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry University freshman Alana Walker (Clayton, N.C.) has been named to the 2024-25 All-National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Division II Honorable Mention Team, NIRA officials announced last week. She becomes the second player in program history to receive postseason honors after Meredith Inge received the same honor last season.

Walker paced the Wasps offense during their second season of competition, finishing the year with a team-leading 27 tries. She went for a hat trick of tries on multiple occasions, including in a 50-10 victory over Warren Wilson College and 53-32 win against Guilford College in a pair of 15's matches. Walker posted 10 total tries at the Elite Rugby 7's in Greensboro, N.C. (Sep. 14) to help propel the Wasps to a second-place finish.

NIRA brings together institutions of higher education that compete at the highest levels of intercollegiate women's rugby in the United States. The Association seeks, to organize, manage, and promote the sport of intercollegiate women's rugby. The overarching goal of the Association is to help support the growth of women's rugby nationally to attain NCAA Championship status.
