Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Defeats Agnes Scott, 1-0, Sunday On The Road

DECATUR, Ga. – The Emory & Henry Women's Soccer Team (4-0) got its second win in two days Sunday as it defeated Agnes Scott College (2-2-1) by a 1-0 margin on the road. With the victory, the Wasps eclipse last season's win total.

After battling for over an hour in a scoreless contest, freshman midfielder Erica Merriman (Cornelius, N.C.) tallied her fourth goal of the season. Merriman received a pass to the middle from sophomore midfielder Ashlie Caldwell (Blue Ridge, Va.) with just 14:50 left to go in the match.

E&H outshot the Scotties 26-10 in the match and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Emory & Henry senior Hayley Poland (Mechanicsville, Va.) and sophomore Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) shared the shutout in goal as Jerome registered three saves. Agnes Scott's Ashley Watts suffered the loss despite making 12 saves.

The Wasps will travel to Ferrum, Va., on Wednesday to take on the Panthers of Ferrum College. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
