Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Slips Past Roanoke, 1-0, Tuesday On The Road

SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (6-4-1, 2-3-1 ODAC) picked up an important win in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Tuesday night as the Wasps defeated the Maroons of Roanoke College (8-3-1, 4-2 ODAC) by a 1-0 score at Kerr Stadium.

After surviving at barrage of shots from Roanoke in the first half, Emory & Henry came out strong after the intermission. Just 1:28 after the break, the Wasps got their only shot of the match, and made it count in the process. Sophomore forward Bethany Myer (Hickory, N.C.) shot the ball past the keeper from the right side for the contest's only goal.

The Wasps would face seven shots in the second half by the Maroons, but none would find the mark, as Emory & Henry came away with its first shutout since Sunday, September 11.

In addition to holding a 17-1 advantage on shots, the Maroons also had six corner kicks, compared to zero for the Wasps.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) picked up the shutout for E&H, making six saves.

Emory & Henry will return home on Saturday afternoon when it will play host to Randolph-Macon College at Fred Selfe Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
