Lynchburg Defeats Emory & Henry 8-0 In ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The top-seeded Lynchburg College Women's Soccer Team (17-2-1) advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament with an 8-0 victory over #8 Emory & Henry College (9-8-1) Saturday afternoon at Shellenberger Field. Lynchburg is ranked No. 13 in NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The Hornets put the match out of reach early as Angela Bosco tallied a hat trick in the first 30 minutes of the match. Bosco's third goal made the score 5-0. Lynchburg would to into the break with a 6-0 lead.

The nationally-ranked Hornets added two more goals en route to the victory in the second half.

Jackie Bader and Audrey Moore combined for the shut out in goal for Lynchburg, while E&H senior Hayley Poland (Mechanicsville, Va.) and sophomore Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) each had seven saves in the contest.

The contest was the first postseason appearance for the Wasps since the 2008 season. Emory & Henry's nine wins mark a six-match improvement over the 2010 season. E&H began the year with a 4-0 record.
