WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem College Women's Soccer Team (2-0) picked up a 3-0 non-conference win over Emory & Henry (0-1) Sunday afternoon at Blixt Fields.

Salem opened the scoring at the 35:27 mark of the first half. Sataj Johnson set up Sawyer Ferguson who put the ball in the back of the net to put the Spirits up 1-0. The score would remain through the end of the first half.

After the break, Bethany Kent swung in a corner kick that found Stephanie Hubbard for the goal in the 55th minute. Salem added their third and final just three and a half minutes later as Ferguson earned the assist for Mackenzie Schmidt's scoring effort.

Emory & Henry junior goalkeeper Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made a career-high 11 saves despite the loss while Jessi Carter and Paige Ketchum combined for the shutout for the Spirits.

The Wasps will open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday evening when the Panthers of Ferrum College visit Fred Selfe Stadium. The contest will be part of a doubleheader with the men's team and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
