Maryville Women's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 3-1, Saturday Afternoon

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Maryville College Women's Soccer Team (1-1) picked up a 3-1 victory over Emory & Henry College (1-2) in a rain-soaked afternoon at MC Soccer Field.

The Scots got on the board in the 13th minute as Phoebe Leo found Sierra Siegel with a pass that Siegel put in the back of the net.

Maryville went up 2-0 just 10 minutes later on a goal by Samantha Turner.

Just before the 30 minute mark, Emory & Henry answered with a goal of its own. Junior forward Bethany Myer (Hickory, N.C.) scored her second goal of the season to close the gap to 2-1.

The scoring for the half wasn't quite over as Leo got a goal to go along with her assist, putting the Scots up by a 3-1 margin.

In the second 45, the teams battled back and forth but neither would add to their scores.

Maryville netminder Michelle Foulke picked up the win, making three saves while Emory & Henry junior Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made four saves.

E&H will travel to Demorest, Ga. Sunday afternoon to take on Piedmont College. Kickoff between the two squads is set for 1:00 p.m.
