Piedmont Women's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, Sunday Afternoon

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont College Women's Soccer Team (4-0) remained undefeated on the year as it picked up a 2-0 victory over Emory & Henry College (1-3) Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, the Lions came out in the second period ready to pounce. Just after the hour mark (60:13), Macie Rooke took a cross from Dilyn McLean and found the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

Piedmont added a second goal less than 10 minutes later (69:51). Nicki Means scored an unassisted goal to give the Lions some insurance and a 2-0 lead that they would hold for the rest of the match.

Freshman Blair Vaughn (Gate City, Va.) led the Wasps with two shots on goal while junior goalkeeper Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made six saves on the day.

Piedmont's goalkeeping tandem of Marjorie Hammond and Micheale Gardner shared the shutout, making one save each.

Emory & Henry will enter Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when it faces Sweet Briar College at 5:30 p.m.
