No. 11 Lynchburg Women's Soccer Shuts Out Emory & Henry, 3-0, Tuesday Evening

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The No. 11 Lynchburg College Women's Soccer Team (10-0-2, 4-0-2 ODAC) picked up a 3-0 victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (3-8, 2-5 ODAC) Tuesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

"Though we were not able to get a goal, we stuck to our game plan and played our hearts out," said Head Coach Linda Schirmeister-Gess. "We were unfortunate to be down by a penalty kick at the half after an exceptional performance by (Sarah) Jerome in goal."

The Hornets got goals from Rachel Sadowski, Dessi Dupuy and Angela Bosco in the victory to remain undefeated on the year.

"We pushed as hard as we could and had a fantastic team performance, but injury and fatigue got the better of us against a tough nationally-ranked team. We were never able to find the final connecting pass in the attacking third," added Schirmeister-Gess.

Emory & Henry junior Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made nine saves despite the loss, as the Wasps stayed in the contest through the first hour, but couldn't find the back of the net.

E&H will travel to Winchester, Virginia on Saturday to face ODAC newcomer Shenandoah University. Kickoff between the Wasps and Hornets is set for 5:00 p.m.
