FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (6-10, 5-7 ODAC) has earned the number eight seed for the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. The Wasps will travel to take on the top-seeded and regular season champion Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at noon. VWC is currently ranked fifth in the country by the NSCAA.

In the regular season meeting between the two squads, Virginia Wesleyan picked up a 5-1 win at Fred Selfe Stadium. The Marlins led in the shot column, 24-10, but the Wasps' back line forced 19 offside calls.

Virginia Wesleyan's Breanne Ingargiola scored two goals and had an assist while Jessica Edleman had a goal and assisted on two more.

The Emory & Henry goal came from junior forward Bethany Myer (Hickory, N.C.) in the 89th minute as she received a long pass and dribbled past the last defenders before finishing past the goalkeeper. In goal for the Wasps, junior Sarah Jerome (Charlotte, N.C.) made 11 saves on the night.

As a team, Emory & Henry tied the school record for conference wins in a season with five. The Wasps also won five matches in 2005.

The winner of Saturday's quarterfinal match will advance to the league semifinals to face the winner of the #4 Bridgewater - #5 Roanoke match. The contest will be played on Wednesday, October 31 at the higher seed with a kickoff time yet to be announced.
