Randolph Women’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, Saturday Afternoon

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College Women's Soccer Team (2-6-1, 1-2 ODAC) picked up a 2-0 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (2-6-1, 0-2 ODAC) at WildCat Stadium Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

Emory & Henry had three shots on goal in the opening 15 minutes including from senior midfielder Emily Belanger (Tampa, Fla.) while sophomore defender Clarissa Martin (Raleigh, N.C.) added an attempt on frame with 15 minutes to go before the break.

The WildCats got on the board at late in the 42nd minute when Alissa Gembach connected with Erin McClelland to put Randolph up 1-0 at halftime.

E&H had two more opportunities in the opening minutes of the second half but the Randolph keeper remained stoic in her net.

RC put the match out of reach with an unassisted goal by Delaney Doyle at the 84:15 mark.

Stephanie Quirk made six saves for Randolph to earn the complete-game shutout while E&H freshman Kieran Liseski (Mooresville, N.C.) stopped one shot in the first half while sophomore Kayla Wright (Franklin County, Va.) came on in the second 45 for the Wasps.

Emory & Held a 12-10 lead on shots in the contest including 6-3 advantage on shots on goal. The WildCats took seven corner kicks compared to three for the Wasps.

E&H will return home on Tuesday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match against Bridgewater College. Kickoff between the Wasps and Eagles is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
