LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Women's Soccer Team (13-3, 9-2 ODAC) earned a 5-1 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (3-11-3, 1-7-2 ODAC) Wednesday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. The match was played on the W&L Turf Field as Watt Field, the normal home of the Generals' soccer matches was deemed unplayable due to heavy rains which have recently fallen.

The Generals are currently ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III South Atlantic Region and are receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches Top 25 poll.

Washington and Lee got on the board at the 10:06 mark of the contest when Tricia Jessee found Caroline peters with a pass, which she slotted past the goalkeeper.

Emory & Henry answered three and a half minutes later when senior midfielder Emily Belanger (Tampa, Fla.) notched an unassisted goal.

The Generals made it 2-1 early in the 21st minute as Peters tallied her second score of the match. The Wasps nearly equalized the score at 2-2 but sophomore midfielder Kelsey Little's (Raleigh, N.C.) strike caromed off the cross bar.

In the final 10 minutes of the half, W&L added two more scores for a 4-1 halftime advantage. Peters completed her hat trick with a score assisted by Erin Harvey at the 35:15 mark while Harvey got on the scoring end of things with a goal assisted by Liz Todd with just 1:55 to play before the break.

Washington and Lee added a final goal just after the hour mark as Jessee assisted a second time on the day, this time to Caroline Hahn for the final 5-1 margin.

Addie Healy picked up the win in goal for the Generals as she and Maggie Nolan split the 90 minutes evenly. Emory & Henry sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Wright (Franklin County, Va.) made 11 saves in the contest.

W&L held a 30-2 shot advantage on the afternoon, putting 17 of their attempts on goal, while also leading 11-0 on corner kicks. Emory & Henry made threats on the break throughout the game but was unable to find the final pass to make many attempts on goal.

Emory & Henry will conclude the regular season on Friday evening when it hosts defending national-champion Lynchburg College. The Hornets are currently ranked 12th in the country and fourth in the South Atlantic Region. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
