LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 10 Lynchburg College Women's Soccer Team (7-0-2, 2-0-2 ODAC) opened up a 7-0 halftime lead to defeat Emory & Henry College (3-8, 0-3 ODAC) by a 10-0 score Wednesday evening in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match. The Hornets are nationally ranked by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

How It Happened
- Marissa Inglisa put the Hornets on the board at the 7:29 mark with a shot to the bottom right of the goal. Caitlin Mertens was credited with the assist.
- Mertens put her name in the scoring column four minutes later with a goal off of a save which rebounded to her feet.
- Emily Sanchez scored in the 22nd minute to put the Hornets up 3-0 and a pair of goals each by Kennedy Jakubek and Rachel Cooke gave LC a 7-0 advantage at the half.
- Inglisa and Sanchez each scored in the second half to complete their brace (two goals) while Georgie Duggan capped the scoring with 10:36 remaining.
Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior goalkeeper Kayla Wright (Franklin County, Va.) made four saves after playing the opening 33 minutes of the contest.
- Sophomore Kieran Liseski (Mooresville, N.C.) stopped seven shots closing out the match for the Wasps.
- Sophomore midfielder Gillian Hogg (Richmond, Va.) had E&H's only shot in the contest, coming midway through the second half.
Lynchburg Leaders
- Cooke had a match-high seven shots, scoring twice, while Jakubek put up six attempts for her pair of goals.
- Sanchez and Inglisa both scored twice for the Hornets, putting up six and five shots, respectively.
- Mertens had a goal and two assists as well for LC.
- Tess Frelick, Delia Losapio, and Caitlin Dorsch combined for the shutout.
A Deeper Look
- Lynchburg took 53 shots in the match, putting 24 of them on target.
- The Hornets also led, 20-1, on corner kicks, 13 of which came before the intermission.
- LC was called offside seven times during the contest.

- Emory & Henry will remain on the road on Saturday when it visits Shenandoah University for an ODAC match. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
- The Wasps and Hornets will be meeting for the seventh time in program history. SU has won the previous two contests.
