FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women’s Soccer Team has been picked to finish 11th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season, ODAC officials announced Friday. The poll is voted on by the 13 head coaches in the league.

“Our spot [in the poll] is indicative of how we finished last year,” commented Head Coach McCallie Jones-Winstead, who is in her first season with the Wasps this fall. “After our first training session this morning, it is evident that we are all happy to be back and playing again. I think we are ready to compete this fall and I am excited to see how everything shakes out this season.”

Last year, the Wasps picked up wins over league opponents in Eastern Mennonite University, Hollins University and Sweet Briar College. E&H also played Guilford College to a scoreless draw.

Washington and Lee University and Lynchburg College share the top spot, each earning 138 points. The Generals get a small edge with seven first-place votes compared to the Hornets’ six top nods. Virginia Wesleyan University, Bridgewater College and Shenandoah University round out the top five.

Emory & Henry will open the season on Friday, September 1 when it travels to Averett University for a matchup against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m.
