Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Earns Team Academic Award From United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team has been recognized for its performance in the classroom by the United Soccer Coaches.

E&H, which achieved a 3.05 team GPA during the 2017-18 academic year, was one of 489 teams from all levels of college soccer to earn the designation. The Team Academic Awards are presented to by the United Soccer Coaches to college and university soccer teams which have achieve a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

"I'm very proud of our group's academic standing for this past academic year," commented Head Coach McCallie Winstead. "We had a heavy away season last fall and it's a testament to our student-athletes' work rate and to their professors for accomplishing a team GPA of over 3.0. Academics are of the utmost importance to all of our coaches here at E&H, and the women's soccer program deserves this honor for the work they put in off the field."

The Wasps were one of seven programs from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to receive the honor. Also recognized from the league were Bridgewater College, Eastern Mennonite University, Hollins University, Roanoke College, Virginia Wesleyan University and Washington and Lee University.

Founded in 1941 as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the United Soccer Coaches is the world's largest soccer coaches' organization, serving members at every level of the game.
