Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Scores Two Late Goals To Draw With Guilford, 2-2, Wednesday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (2-11-2, 0-7-1 ODAC) scored twice in the final 12 minutes of regulation to earn a 2-2 draw against Guilford College (5-8-2, 2-4-1 ODAC) Wednesday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. The match also served as the Wasps' inaugural Veterans' Appreciation Night.

How It Happened
- Just 23 seconds before the halftime whistle, the Quakers broke the scoreless streak. Sarah Hall played a ball over the E&H defense and Taylor Rumrill ran onto it and struck it into the back of the net.
- Midway through the 70th minute, Guilford doubled its margin when Emily Shephard beat a pair of defenders down the end line and squeezed a shot past the goalkeeper.
- The Wasps spoiled the shutout with a goal at the 78:07 mark. Freshman midfielder Ashlee Jordan (Boones Mill, Va.) crossed a ball from the left to senior forward Graysen Barrs (Abingdon, Va.), who found an opening at the back post for her second score of the season.
- With just 2:38 left in regulation, E&H got the equalizer as freshman midfielder Helen Frazier (Vienna, Va.) settled a failed clearance by the GC defense and hit a laser to the right upper 90.
- The two squads battled through two overtime periods but neither was able to break the deadlock.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Barrs and freshman forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) led the way with two shots each while Frazier scored on her only shot.
- Freshman Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) made 10 saves in goal, playing the final 65 minutes as junior Kaela Schlevensky (Haymarket, Va.) stopped six shots in the first half.

Guilford Individual Leaders
- Rumrill and Shephard scored their goals on three attempts, each of which went on frame.
- Aubrey Gunther and Bri Garcia split time in goal for the Quakers.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will remain at home on Saturday when it hosts Sweet Briar College at 5:00 p.m. The contest will also serve as Senior Day for the Wasps.
