Ferrum Women’s Soccer Evades Emory & Henry, 1-0, In Rainy Contest Thursday

EMORY, Va. – The Ferrum College Women's Soccer Team (2-2-2, 2-1-1 ODAC) got on the board at the 15:53 mark of the first half and held on for the final 74 minutes to earn a 1-0 win against Emory & Henry College (0-6, 0-6 ODAC) Thursday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.

The contest also served as Senior Night for the Wasps, as they honored senior forward Kelci Horner (Salem, Va.) prior to kickoff.

How It Happened
- The two teams got off to a hot start, each challenging on the offensive ends in the opening 15 minutes. Late in the 16th minute, Ferrum struck as Taylor Seal played a ball in from the left wing for Allison Setlak to head into the net at the back post.
- The Panthers had other chances in the opening half hour but the Wasps stayed strong on defense for a 1-0 halftime margin.
- In the second, the two squads challenged one another multiple times, but an early spring rain shower had settled in slowing the pace of play and allowing the defenses to recover. E&H challenged twice in the final five minutes but were unable to get on the board as the 1-0 score held.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore midfielder Helen Frazier (Vienna, Va.) led the Wasps with four shots, putting two on frame while junior forward Callie McMurray (Gate City, Va.) added a pair of chances.
- Sophomore Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) made 11 saves and broke up several crosses to preserve the one-goal differential.

Ferrum Individual Leaders
- Casey Raggett posted a match-high nine shots, with six going on target while Bella Bettilyon had five shots.
- Abbey Hayes earned the clean sheet in goal, making four saves on the night.

- Emory & Henry will conclude the regular season on Sunday when it visits Eastern Mennonite University. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
