Carson-Newman Women's Soccer Tops Emory & Henry, 6-0, In SAC Action Wednesday

EMORY, Va. - The Carson-Newman University Women's Soccer Team (4-2-2, 3-1 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (2-5, 0-4 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday evening. The Lady Eagles took the decision by a 6-0 margin.

How It Happened
- The Lady Eagles took the early lead on a goal from Selina Jud and an assist from Felicia Frick to make it 1-0 in the 10th minute. Carson-Newman added another in the 36th minute behind an unassisted score from Sydnee Duncan and increased their lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute on a Frick conversion from the penalty spot. The margin stood at 3-0 at the halftime whistle.
- Carson-Newman kicked off the second half scoring in the 56th minute on a Nellie Bryneus goal assisted by Jud's through ball in on goal. Addie Henry then made it 5-0 in the 80th minute with a curled left-footed shot inside the far post. Jud added her second of the match on an assist from Henry in the 87th minute to cap the scoring and end the match at 6-0.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior defender Sophie Graham (Radford, Va.) registered the only shot of the night for Emory & Henry.
- Senior goalkeeper Natalie Capone (Kannapolis, N.C.) recorded nine saves in goal to lead the Wasps. 

Carson-Newman Individual Leaders
- Jud led the Lady Eagles with two goals and an assist. Frick and Henry each recorded a goal and an assist to aid the Carson-Newman effort. Duncan and Bryneus rounded out the scoring.
- Laura Germes and Jenna Rehm combined in goal for the shutout.

Up Next
- The Wasps travel to Gaffney, South Carolina on Friday to face the Saints of Limestone University in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader with the men's soccer team. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
