Anderson Women’s Soccer Posts 4-2 Win Over Emory & Henry Sunday

EMORY, Va. - The Anderson (S.C.) University Women's Soccer Team (6-2-3, 3-1-2 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (2-7, 0-6 SAC) on Sunday afternoon as the Wasps wrapped up Homecoming Weekend. The Trojans took the South Atlantic Conference decision by a 4-2 scoreline.

How It Happened
- The Trojans opened the scoring in the 14th minute as Emma Deadwyler found the back of the net on an assist from Camryn Woods to make it 1-0 in favor of Anderson. The lead grew to two in the 26th minute as Woods put a cross from Meggie Powell into the goal for a 2-0 margin. The Trojans closed out the half with a third marker in the 33rd minute from Catherine Nardella, assisted by Kendall Simpson to make the halftime score 3-0.
- The Wasps came out of the halftime break on the front foot as they fired multiple shots after not recording a shot in the opening frame. Junior forward Maddie Hummel (Spotsylvania, Va.) made E&H women's soccer program history in the 54th minute as she scored the first league goal for the program to cut into the lead and make it a 3-1 score. E&H continued to apply pressure on the Trojans and created several dangerous scoring opportunities. 
- Anderson increased their lead in the 84th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick. Carly Keuffer converted from the penalty spot to make it 4-1 in favor of the Trojans.
- Sophomore midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) ended the contest with a bang in the 90th minute as she scored a beautiful goal with her right foot from outside of the penalty area that curled up and over the outstretched hands of the Anderson keeper to bring the game to its final score of 4-2.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Hummel and Haynes led the offense with a goal each.
-  Junior forward Adrienne Harris (Hillsville, Va.) had four shots, including two that found the target while freshman forward Hailey Hamilton (Elkwood, Va.) also registered a shot on goal.
- Freshman goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) recorded four saves in goal to lead the Wasps. 

Anderson (S.C.) Individual Leaders
- Keuffer, Deadwyler, Nardella and Woods all recorded goals for the Trojans, while Woods, Meggie Powell and Kendall Simpson each registered an assist in the win.
- Goalkeepers Jeanette Campbell and Macy McDufford combined for four saves and the win in net for the Trojans.

Up Next
- The Wasps will make the trip to Hickory, North Carolina on Wednesday to take on the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University. The women will play match one of a doubleheader with the men's team. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
