Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Topples Emory & Henry, 7-0, Wednesday Evening

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Soccer Team (6-2-3, 5-0-2 SAC) earned a victory over Emory & Henry College (2-7, 0-6 SAC) on Wednesday evening. The perennial South Atlantic Conference powerhouse and 2021 NCAA Division II National Semifinalist Bears took the match by a 7-0 score.

How It Happened
- Lenoir-Rhyne opened up the scoring in the 19th minute on a goal from Elin Hansson from an Evan O'Leary assist to make it 1-0. The Bears added another in the 20th minute when Kate Casey was assisted by Ria Acton for the two-goal margin.
- Hansson assisted Stephanie Figuereido in the 26th minute for the third goal and Leonie Proessl increased the lead to 4-0 on another Hansson assist in the 33rd minute. LR would add a fifth in the 40th minute when Anna Bates converted a pass from Vivian Jones just before the halftime break.
- Both teams were held scoreless through the first 25 minutes of the second half until Proessl found the back of the net for her second of the match on a pass from Abbie Biddle to make it 6-0. Biddle added a goal of her own in the 77th minute to increase the LR lead to 7-0.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore midfielders Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) and Lucy Dunlop (York, ENGLAND) and senior midfielders Ronnie Garrou (Greensboro, N.C.) and Helen Frazier (Vienna, Va.) each recorded a shot that found the target.
- Freshman goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) had six saves in between the sticks to lead the Wasps on defense. 

Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
- Proessl led the Bears with two goals while Bates, Biddle, Casey, Figuereido and Hansson each had one. Hansson and O'Leary each had two helpers to lead LR.
- Alexis Werve and S.A. Phillips combined for four saves and the shutout in goal for Lenoir-Rhyne.

- The Wasps host the Pioneers of Tusculum University on Wednesday, October 12. The women's team will play the first half of a doubleheader with the men's team, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m..
