Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Draws With King, 1-1, In Road Test Tuesday

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (0-1-1) used a second-half equalizing goal to earn its first result of the season, drawing King (Tenn.) University (0-1-1) with a 1-1 score Tuesday afternoon on the road.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled back and forth during the first half with E&H holding a 10-7 shot advantage. The Tornado put four of their attempts on target, but Wasp freshman goalkeeper Ava Puskas (Chesapeake, Va.) turned each attempt away.
- Just under three minutes into the second half, King broke the deadlock. Michelle White found herself at the top of the 18-yard box and deked a pair of defenders near the penalty spot before slotting the ball into the bottom-left corner past the keeper.
- Emory & Henry had a pair of chances just after the hour mark but King's keeper remained solid and kept it a 1-0 contest. The Wasps broke through late in the 80th minute on a strike to the top-right of the goal by junior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) from 25 yards away.
- King put up another two shots in the closing minutes, but both were off target as the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Keuters led all players with seven shots, putting three on goal, including the equalizer. Junior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) posted four attempts.
- Puskas made six saves in goal, earning the tie.

King (Tenn.) Individual Leaders
- White's goal came on her only chance of the contest while Taylor Stubbs put two of her four shots on frame.
- Kristal Garcia stopped three shots, allowing one, as she picked up the draw between the pipes.
