Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Battles Belmont Abbey To A Scoreless Draw Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (1-1-2) battled to a scoreless draw against Belmont Abbey College (2-1-2) in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The opening half was a defensive battle, as the Crusaders continually asked questions of the strong Wasps' defense. E&H was up to the task and kept Belmont Abbey scoreless despite being outshot by a 5-3 margin, with three of the Crusader shots finding their target. Sophomore goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) made three first-half saves to keep the score 0-0 at the half.
- The Wasps turned up the pressure in the second stanza and both squads created scoring chances but were denied by both defenses. The two teams fired seven shots each during the half, but could not find the back of the net and the game ended in a scoreless draw. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior midfielder Lucy Dunlop (York, ENGLAND), senior forward Adrienne Harris (Hillsville, Va.) and junior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) each recorded two shots to lead the Wasps' attack. Freshman forward Maddie Simmons (Roanoke, Va.) accounted for the only shot on target for E&H.
- Rehg posted five saves in goal to earn her first career collegiate shutout. 

Belmont Abbey Individual Leaders
- Logan Parry fired four shots during the match, two of which found their target, to pace the Crusaders. Gabriela Enciso had three shots, finding the goal on two occasions.
- Brianna Sroka earned the shutout in goal for Belmont Abbey, making a save on the lone shot that found its target.

- The Wasps get South Atlantic Conference play underway on Saturday when they make the trip to South Carolina to take on the Wolves of Newberry College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., as game two of a doubleheader with the men's team.
