Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Ties Newberry, 1-1, Saturday In SAC Action

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (1-1-3, 0-0-1 SAC) extended its unbeaten streak to four games, as the Wasps grinded out a 1-1 South Atlantic Conference draw against Newberry College (2-3-1, 0-1-1 SAC) on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Wolves struck first in the 3rd minute when Becca Lipp found the back of the net on a pass from Rizza Songco to push Newberry out in front 1-0. The Wasps would respond by outshooting the Wolves 7-4 throughout the rest of the opening half, but the score stood at 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
- E&H continued to create attacking chances and fired six shots at the Newberry goal in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, but Aubrey Cripe was stout in goal for the Wolves to keep the Wasps off the score sheet. The visitors from Emory would finally break through in the 77th minute when junior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) slotted a shot past Cripe in net to level the game at 1-1. The Wasps finished the game with 19 shots, 11 of which found the target, but the game would end in a draw.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Haynes registered the lone goal of the afternoon for E&H on three shots. Senior forward Adrienne Harris (Hillsville, Va.) had four shots, three on goal, and junior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) had three shots.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) made five saves in between the sticks for the Wasps to help earn the draw.

Newberry Individual Leaders
- Lipp scored the Wolves' only goal while Jaidyn Jacobs led the Newberry attack with four shots.
- Cripe ended the match with nine saves in net for Newberry. 

Up Next
- The Wasps make the trip down I-81 on Wednesday to take on the Lady Eagles of Carson-Newman University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., as the second game of a doubleheader with the men's team.
