Limestone Women’s Soccer Beats Emory & Henry, 3-0, Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (1-3-3, 0-2-1 SAC) fell in South Atlantic Conference action to Limestone University (2-4, 1-2 SAC) on Sunday afternoon. The Saints took the win by a 3-0 decision.

How It Happened
- The Saints began the match on the front foot as they created the majority of the scoring opportunities in the opening half. Limestone opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Anae Malbete found Lucie Bertrand who buried a shot into the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the visitors. LU outshot the Wasps by a 7-0 margin in the first stanza and held the 1-0 advantage at the half. 
- Limestone continued to create chances in the second half and doubled their lead in the 73rd minute when Bertrand slipped a pass to Alecia Simmons who scored to make it 2-0. The Saints added a third in the 89th minute on a goal from Emma Dufresne to clinch their first SAC win of the season at 3-0. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) led the Wasps with two shots, both of which found the target. Freshman forward Hana Kirsch (Powell, Tenn.) and freshman midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) each recorded a shot on goal in the loss.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) made four saves during the afternoon for E&H.

Limestone Individual Leaders
- Bertrand had a goal and an assist on four shots while Simmons contributed a pair of shots and a goal. Dufresne found the back of the net on her lone shot of the game.
- Rosemary Elliott posted four saves in goal for the Saints to preserve the clean sheet and the win.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 27 when they make the return trip to take on Bluefield State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from East River Soccer Complex.
