Emory & Henry Women's Soccer Falls In 1-0 Heartbreaker To Mars Hill Sunday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team (2-6-4, 0-5-2 SAC) conceded an early goal and could not find the equalizer against Mars Hill University (4-4-4, 2-4-3 SAC), as the Lions earned the 1-0 South Atlantic Conference victory Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Samantha Swinson played a long ball over the top of the Wasps' defense that found the feet of Bailey Whitehead-Price. Whitehead-Price buried the shot into the back of the net to give Mars Hill the 1-0 lead after just 35 seconds. The two teams traded scoring chances throughout the remainder of the opening half, but the 1-0 advantage held through the halftime break.

- The Wasps were more creative and on the front foot in the second half as they continued to fire shots at the Lions goal. E&H outshot the Lions by a narrow 12-11 margin, but Mars Hill was able to escape with the 1-0 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior forward Adrienne Harris (Hillsville, Va.) led the Wasps with three shots, one of which found the target, while junior midfielders Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) and Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) registered two shots apiece. 

- Freshman goalkeeper Ava Puskas (Chesapeake, Va.) made four saves in net for E&H.

Mars Hill Individual Leaders
- Whitehead-Price tallied the lone goal of the afternoon on a pair of shots. Carla Humera had a match-high four shots.

- Camryn Miller recorded four saves in between the sticks for the Lions in the win.
