Wingate Women's Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 4-0, Wednesday Evening

EMORY, Va. - The Wingate University Women's Soccer Team (9-3-1, 6-2 SAC) scored one goal in the first half and a trio of goals in the second half to defeat Emory & Henry College (2-7-4, 0-6-2 SAC) by a 4-0 scoreline in South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
- Both teams were held scoreless through the opening stages of the first half but the Bulldogs struck first in the 26th minute. Caroline Peters drew a foul and curled a free kick from distance into the E&H net to give Wingate the 1-0 lead. Wingate continued to create chances as they outshot the Wasps by a 9-0 margin in the first half.
- The Bulldogs added a second in the 65th minute on a headed goal from Sacha Larsen assisted by Peters. Sophia Husted made it 3-0 in the 80th minute on an assist from Steph Berman-Flores and Julia Boaventura rounded out the Wingate scoring in the 88th minute, assisted on a pass from Taylor Hayes.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman forward Madie Beale (Virginia Beach, Va.) tallied the lone shot of the evening for the Wasps.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) recorded a pair of saves in goal for E&H.

Wingate Individual Leaders
- Larsen and Katherine Ensalaco led the Bulldogs with four shots apiece, while Husted and Brianna Ditillo each had three shots.
- Katrine Thisgaard stopped the only shot she faced in the winning effort.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry hits the road this weekend as they square off against the Cobras of Coker University on Saturday, October 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field as game one of a SAC doubleheader with the men's team.
