
RADFORD, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (0-0, 0-0 SAC) got the 2024 preseason underway Thursday evening on the road against Radford University (2-1, 0-0 Big South). The match, which was played as an exhibition for the Wasps and a regular season contest for Radford, ended in a 5-0 final in favor of the Highlanders.

How It Happened
- The Highlanders were the aggressors from the get-go as they fired six shots at the E&H net in the opening 15 minutes of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Wagner (Front Royal, Va.) was up to the task as she came up with four big saves to keep the match scoreless. Radford broke through in the 18th minute with a goal from Ashley Lounderman to take the 1-0 advantage. RU continued to push the tempo and increased its margin to 2-0 in the 25th minute when Eileen Albers found the back of the net. Wagner was huge throughout the half, as she made 12 saves to keep the deficit at two goals heading into the halftime break.
- The home team picked up where they left off in the second half as they tacked on goals in the 56th, 66th and 84th minute to push its lead out to five. The Wasps battled until the final whistle, but came up short by the 5-0 final tally.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) and sophomore midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) each recorded a shot, with Stavis' effort finding its target.
- Wagner finished with 12 saves in net while junior goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) and sophomore goalkeeper Ava Puskas (Chesapeake, Va.) made one and two saves respectively in relief.
Radford Individual Leaders
- Lounderman led the way for Radford with a goal on five shots. Lilly Short had a goal on four shots, all four of which were on target.
- Jordan Phillips, Lexi Radvanyi and Margaret Tresler combined for the shutout.
