VENUE – Fred Selfe Stadium
RECORDS – Emory & Henry (3-1, 1-0 SAC); Virginia State (0-5)

How It Happened
- The Wasps wasted no time as the reigning South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week sophomore midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) found the back of the net on an assist from senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) just 49 seconds into the contest to push E&H ahead 1-0. The remainder of the opening stanza was played evenly as the squads looked to create scoring opportunities, but could not convert those chances into goals. The shot count was level at 8-8 at the half as the Wasps held onto the 1-0 lead.
- E&H held the majority of the possession and chances in the second stanza, outshooting the Trojans by a 17-3 margin. The Wasps fired shot after shot in the direction of the Virginia State goal, but could not find the second goal to give them some breathing room. Stavis finally broke through for her second tally of the game in the 84th minute on an unassisted shot from outside of the box that nestled just inside the left post. The E&H defense was up to the task all afternoon as they pitched a shutout to earn the 2-0 victory.
