How It Happened
- The Wasps began the match on the front foot, creating a pair of scoring chances in the opening seven minutes of play. Sophomore midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) had an opportunity to open the scoring in the eighth minute, but her shot caromed off of the woodwork and the game remained scoreless. Both teams continued to fire shots as E&H forced the Carolina keeper Alona Locklear to make four saves in the opening half, but she was up to the task and the match went into the half at 0-0.
- The home team dominated possession and scoring chances in the second half as they tallied 15 shots compared to just a pair for the Bruins. The Wasps had another great opportunity to break through on the scoreboard in the 85th minute when junior forward Riley Firebaugh (Roanoke, Va.) broke through on goal and slotted a shot past the goalkeeper, but once again the ball struck the woodwork on the left side of the frame to keep things scoreless.
