No. 21 Catawba Women's Soccer Tops Emory & Henry, 4-0, In SAC Play Saturday

SALISBURY, N.C. - The No. 21 nationally-ranked Catawba College Women's Soccer Team (8-1-4, 6-0-2) topped Emory & Henry University (5-6-1, 2-5 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon inside the Frock Athletic Complex. The Lady Catawba Indians scored one goal in the first half and three more in the second half on their way to a 4-0 victory.

How It Happened
- Catawba was quick to jump ahead on the scoreboard when Bree Ehmer put a shot into the back of the net on an assist from Kylie Morin in the ninth minute to give the home team the early 1-0 lead. The Lady Catawba Indians continued to put pressure on the Wasps' defense, but E&H was up to the task as the Wasps held the deficit to just 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
- Catawba struck again in the 50th minute as Morin finished a pass from Avery Rush to push the margin out to two goals. Ehmer converted her second score of the day in the 69th minute assisted by Lillie Rusher to make the advantage 3-0. Callie Hammond rounded out the scoring just 51 seconds later on an unassisted tally to run the score to its final at 4-0. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) and sophomore defender Bella Fairley (Chesapeake, Va.) each fired a shot that found its target. Junior forward Kaleea Scales (Maryville, Tenn.) and senior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) finished the match with one attempt apiece.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Ava Puskas (Chesapeake, Va.) made seven saves in goal for the Wasps.

Catawba Individual Leaders
- Ehmer recorded her brace of goals on five attempts while Morin had a goal and an assist on a pair of shots. Hammond recorded one goal and four shots.
- Ashley Hughes posted one save in net in the win for Catawba. 

Up Next
- Emory & Henry is back on the road on Wednesday, October 23 when they travel to face off against the Lions of Mars Hill University in a match that was rescheduled from September 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. as game one of a doubleheader with the men's team.
