
WINGATE, N.C. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (7-7-2, 3-6-1 SAC) fell in South Atlantic Conference play to Wingate University (10-2-3, 8-1-1 SAC) Saturday afternoon inside of Pride Park. The Bulldogs tallied a pair of goals in the first half and three more in the second half on their way to the 5-0 victory.

How It Happened
- The teams each recorded a shot in the opening five minutes of play, but the momentum took a huge swing in favor of the home team in the sixth minute when the Wasps were reduced to ten players due to a questionable red card call from the center official. E&H kept the Bulldogs at bay until the 27th minute when Audur Halldorsdottir found Katie Ensalaco who buried a shot to make it 1-0. Wingate increased their lead to two in the 32nd minute on a goal from Manu Baptista Filipe, assisted by Hinako Aoki. The Bulldogs would take the 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
- WU wasted no time getting back on the scoreboard to begin the second half as Abby Pollari registered a goal on an assist from Makenna Freeman in the 48th minute to run the margin out to 3-0. The Bulldogs would go on to add goals in the 63rd and 80th minutes to take the 5-0 win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) led the Wasps with a pair of shots, both of which were on target. Sophomore defender Bella Fairley (Chesapeake, Va.) had the other attempt for E&H.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Wagner (Front Royal, Va.) finished with eight saves in goal.
Wingate Individual Leaders
- Ensalaco tallied a pair of goals on four shots to pace the Bulldogs while three other Wingate players finished with a goal each. Freeman recorded a pair of assists and Yasmin Cowley paced WU with a match-high six shots.
- Haley Faucette posted a pair of saves in net to earn the win.

- The Wasps wrap up the 2024 regular season on Wednesday, November 6 at Lincoln Memorial University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. as game one of a doubleheader with the men's team.
