Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Falls To Lincoln Memorial, 2-0, In Season Finale

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (7-8-2, 3-7-1 SAC) gave Lincoln Memorial University (8-4-3, 6-2-3 SAC) all it could handle for 90 minutes Wednesday evening, but fell just short in the end. The Lady Railsplitters outshot the Wasps by a 21-4 margin on their way to a 2-0 victory, ending Emory & Henry's season as they came up just shy of the number eight seed in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

How It Happened
- The Lady Railsplitters were the aggressors from the beginning of the match as they registered four shots in the opening 10 minutes of play, but the score remained deadlocked at 0-0. LMU fired three more shots in the direction of the Wasps' goal but sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Wagner (Front Royal, Va.) was up to the task as she made multiple saves to keep the match scoreless. E&H had its lone attempt of the first half in the 24th minute as senior midfielder Olivia Haynes (Spotsylvania, Va.) placed a shot on frame, forcing a save from LMU keeper Bente Latenstein. Neither team could break through on the scoreboard and the match went into the halftime break all square at 0-0.
- The Wasps had the first scoring opportunity of the second half as junior defender Olivia DaSilva (Newton, N.J.) placed a shot on frame that forced Latenstein into action once more but the score remained 0-0. The defensive struggle continued late into the second half, but the Lady Railsplitters eventually broke through. Ryan Branson found Meg Anderson on a corner kick in the 84th minute and Anderson found the back of the net to make it 1-0. LMU added another goal in the 87th minute when Ellie Snyder found Alicia Bevins who slotted a shot into the net to push the lead out to its final at 2-0. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Haynes led the offensive effort for the Wasps with a pair of shots, one of which was on target. DaSilva finished with one shot on goal while senior midfielder Karlijn Keuters (The Hague, NETHERLANDS) added an attempt.
- Wagner registered seven saves in goal for the Wasps.

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Bevins paced the Lady Railsplitters with a goal on a match-high six shots. Anderson scored her goal on a pair of attempts while Jade Brown fired five shots for LMU.
- Latenstein posted a pair of saves to earn the win for the home team.
