How It Happened
- The Highlanders wasted no time as they broke through with a goal from Jashyra Johnson on their third shot of the match just 2:34 into the contest. The Wasps battled back, as they traded shots with the Highlanders. Junior goalkeeper Sophia Wagner (Front Royal, Va.) kept the deficit at one as she made a pair of saves to hold the score at 1-0, but the home team added another to their tally in the 28th minute as Johnson assisted Lilly Short to push the Highlanders' margin out to 2-0. Both teams locked down defensively and the 2-0 scoreline held into the half.
- It was more of the same in the second frame as Radford forced Wagner into making several saves, but the junior keeper was up to the task as she made three more stops in the half to keep the Highlanders off of the scoreboard. The Wasps registered two more shots over the second half, but could not find the back of the net as the home team took the win by a 2-0 final scoreline.
