How It Happened
- Emory & Henry wasted no time pressing the Bruins as the Wasps outshot the visitors by a 7-1 margin over the first 30 minutes of play. E&H finally broke through in the 33rd minute when junior midfielder Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) scored her 13th goal of the season to put the Wasps on top 1-0. Stavis fired three more shots at the Bruins' goal, but the score held at 1-0 at the half.
- Stavis picked up where she left off to begin the second half, taking aim twice more at the Carolina U goal, but goalkeeper Alona Locklear made two big saves to keep the deficit at just one. Stavis would not be denied however, as freshman forward Annie Becker (Dallas, Texas) played a ball to her feet and Stavis finished past Locklear for her conference-leading 14th score of the year to run the score out to 2-0. Emory & Henry put the finishing touches on the win in the final minute of play when junior forward Siena Booth (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) found freshman midfielder Anjelika DeJesus (Las Vegas, Nev.) who placed a shot into the back of the net to give the Wasps the 3-0 victory.
