ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team (6-0, 4-0 ODAC) kept rolling with a 149-95 victory over King (Tenn.) University Friday evening at the Harry L. Coomes Center. The Wasps won eight of the 14 events against the Lady Tornado, a member of the NCAA's Division II.

Emory & Henry, which never trailed in the meet, took advantage of its depth in the victory while also setting two new school records. The first record to fall was the 200-yard backstroke. Freshman Liz Kleveno (Fredericksburg, Va.) swam a 2:18.88 to notch a new program-best time. Freshman Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) followed that up in the next event, crushing the record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.94.

Nolte had a pair of first-place finishes in individual events (100- and 200-yard breaststroke) and swam on E&H's winning 400-yard medley relay as well. Sophomore Taylor Guardalabene (Charlotte, N.C.) claimed wins in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle and was on the 400-yard medley relay as well.

Sophomore Nicole Powell's (Apex, N.C.) swim in the 200-yard butterfly saw her go from third at the first turn to first at the final wall as she won by .72 seconds. Kleveno won the 200-back and swam the backstroke leg of the 400-yard medley relay while freshman Allison Fowler (Morristown, Tenn.) finished first in the 200-yard individual medley. Sophomore Payton Shirey (Seaford, Del.) was the freestyle leg of the winning 400-medley relay.

The Wasps will have a chance over the next three weeks to get some rest before their last meet of the fall portion of the season. E&H will travel to Barbourville, Kentucky on Friday, December 6 for the Union College Winter Invitational. The meet will be a two-day event.
