
ROANOKE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team (2-0, 2-0 ODAC) went 1-2 in all 11 events of the afternoon and 1-2-3 in eight of the nine individual races as it rolled over Hollins University by a 173-31 score Friday.
The Wasps got out to a strong start in the 200-yard medley relay as sophomores Jordan Greenburg (Cordova, Tenn.), Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.), Allison Fowler (Morristown, Tenn.) and Jessica Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla.) swam a 1:55.72 to edge their freshman teammates by just under three seconds.
Junior Taylor Guardalabene (Charlotte, N.C.) was first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of11:33.72 while Fowler clocked a 2:07.86 in the 200-yard freestyle. Junior Payton Shirey (Seaford, Del.) went :25.05 to win the 50-yard freestyle as well.
In the 200-yard individual medley, the Wasps' three swimmers finished within 1.67 seconds of one another. Richardson won the race in 2:22.20 while freshmen Holly Roth (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Marina Moore (Thomasville, N.C.) went 2:22.55 and 2:23.87.
Nolte went 1:02.94 in the 100-yard butterfly while freshman Mackenzie Lingle (Roanoke, Va.) swam a :55.46 in the 100-yard freestyle to notch wins for the Wasps.
Richardson made it two individual wins on the afternoon with a time of 1:03.67 in the 100-yard backstroke and Roth led the Wasps in the 500-yard freestyle as she clocked a 5:38.06.
Nolte earned her second win of the day with a 1:10.65 in the 100-yard breaststroke, edging out freshman Kelsey Jones (Roanoke, Va.) who clocked a 1:10.67.
The Wasps concluded the day with a time of 1:47.1 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Lingle, Shirey, Guardalabene and junior Sam Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) made up the winning group.
Emory & Henry will remain on the road next Saturday when it travels to Sweet Briar, Virginia for a double-dual with Sweet Briar College and Guilford College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
