FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team has been chosen to repeat its second-place finish at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships for a fourth year, ODAC officials announced Friday. The poll is voted on by each of the league's nine coaches. The Wasps also received one first-place vote.

Emory & Henry returns nine letterwinners and six all-conference swimmers from last year’s runner-up squad and welcomes three freshmen to the team. Highlighting the returners is senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.), who was the 2016 ODAC Women’s Swimmer of the Year and the ODAC Champion in the 50-yard freestyle for a second year in a row and three-peated in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke. Nolte also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in both breaststrokes and turned in 18th- and 17th-place performances in the 100- and 200-breast, respectively.

Washington and Lee University is picked to win the league for the 10th-straight year with 64 points and eight first-place votes. The Generals currently have 26 ODAC championships under their caps. Emory & Henry (54 points) holds the slimmest of leads over Randolph-Macon College in third (53).

Bridgewater College and Hollins University are fourth and fifth with 42 points and 32 points, respectively Greensboro College is sixth. Sweet Briar College is seventh while Ferrum College and Guilford College round out the poll.

Emory & Henry will open the 2016-17 season at the 2016 ODAC Relays hosted by Washington and Lee on Saturday, October 15. The first race is set for noon.
