Michaela Nolte Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior Michaela Nolte has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the fifth time in Nolte's career.

Emory & Henry took fourth place at the 16th Annual Sewanee Invitational this past weekend out of eight competing schools. The teams competing included Sewanee, Birmingham-Southern College, Emmanuel (Ga.) College, King (Tenn.) University and Milligan College. Birmingham-Southern is currently ranked 10th in the West-Midwest-South Region by the CSCAA.

The Hillsborough, North Carolina native and 2016 ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Year won six of the seven events in which she competed. She set meet records in the 100-yard individual medley (1:01.90), 50-yard (:31.07) and 200-yard breaststrokes (2:26.38) and also won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.09).

Nolte also led the Wasps to wins in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle relays. She swam the anchor leg in both events as E&H posted a :48.01 in the 100-free relay and was .01 seconds off the meet record in the 200-free (1:41.82).

Nolte was also recognized as the ODAC's top women's swimmer from last week by the College Swimming Coaches' Association of America. It is the second time in her career that that Nolte has received CSCAA weekly honors.

E&H will have its first dual meet of the year on Saturday when it travels to take on Ferrum College. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
