Michaela Nolte Named ODAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior Michaela Nolte has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the second time this year that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the sixth time in Nolte's career. It is the third year in a row that Nolte has won ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Week after the team's mid-season invitational.

Emory & Henry finished third at the Fourth Annual Transylvania Invitational this past weekend, earning three event wins and four runner-up finishes. The list of teams competing included 2016 Southern Athletic Association Champion Rhodes College, Franklin College, Wittenberg University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

The Hillsborough, North Carolina native and 2016 NCAA Division III Championship qualifier earned a pair of NCAA Division III "B" Cuts in her wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.85) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.13). She was second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.21, just .01 seconds out of first place.

Nolte also helped the Wasps win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:35.98 and to second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:39.12), 200-yard medley relay (1:49.69) and 400-yard medley relay (4:01.71).

Nolte was also recognized Tuesday as the ODAC's top women's swimmer from last week by the College Swimming Coaches' Association of America. It is the third time in her career that that Nolte has received CSCAA weekly honors.

Emory & Henry's next meet will be on Saturday, January 14 when it travels to face off against ODAC foes Bridgewater College and Hollins University at 1:00 p.m.
