Emory & Henry Women’s Swimming Third After Day One Of The 2017 ODAC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team is in third place after day one of the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimming Championships Friday evening. The Wasps picked up a trio of runner-up finishes on the day and sit 24 points out of second place in the overall standings.

The Basics
RESULTS – 3rd/9
LOCATION – Greensboro, North Carolina; Greensboro Aquatic Center

The Events
Event 1 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – Emory & Henry finished as the ODAC Runner-Up as senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.), freshman Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.), junior Brianna Chessock (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and senior Jessica Richardson (Vero Beach Fla.) swam a 1:38.16.
Event 3 – 500-Yard Freestyle Relay – Chessock stopped the watches in a time of 5:20.97 to finish ninth.
Event 5 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Anson took eighth in 2:15.72 while junior Kelsey Jones (Roanoke, Va.) and freshman Savannah Scarbrough (Crozet, Va.) were ninth (2:19.50) and 10th (2:19.70), respectively.
Event 7 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Nolte finished second in the race, going :23.95, just .05 seconds off the E&H record while Richardson was fifth on a :24.17. Senior Kia Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.) clocked a :26.06 in the consolation final to finish 13th.
Event 9 – 400-Yard Medley Relay – Emory & Henry made it two second-place relays on the day as Richardson, Nolte, Anson and Chessock stopped the watches in 4:01.23. Richardson's time of :57.68 on the leadoff leg of the event was a school record for the 100-yard backstroke.

The Preliminaries
Event 1 – 200-Yard Freestyle Relay – Emory & Henry is seeded fourth going into tonight's final with a time of 1:47.34
Event 3 – 500-Yard Freestyle Relay – Junior Brianna Chessock (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has the number nine seed (5:22.98) and will swim in the consolation final. Senior Lauren Blakey (Davidson, N.C.) finished 22nd in the event.
Event 5 – 200-Yard Individual Medley – Freshman Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) is seeded fifth (2:14.03) for the championship final. Freshman Savannah Scarbrough (Crozet, Va.) is ninth with a time of 2:21.02 and junior Kelsey Jones (Roanoke, Va.) is 11th (2:23.77) in the consolation final.
Event 7 – 50-Yard Freestyle – Senior Michaela Nolte (Hillsborough, N.C.) is seeded third and senior Jessica Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla.) has the number five seed after stopping the watches in :24.02 and :24.39, respectively. Senior Kia Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.) will swim in the consolation final with the number 14 seed (:26.18). Freshman Taylor Simmons (Fincastle, Va.) claimed 19th in the event.
- Event 9 – 400-Yard Medley Relay – Emory & Henry has the number five seed after putting up at time of 4:32.90.
