Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Open The Season At King Invitational

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams got the 2019-20 season started over the weekend, competing at the King Invitational. The Wasps were the only non-scholarship program at the meet which consisted mostly of NCAA Division II schools.

The Basics
MEN'S FINAL RESULT – 7th/7
WOMEN'S FINAL RESULT – 9th/9

The Women
- Sophomores Anne-Louise Tunstall (Mount Airy, N.C.), Leah Mumpower (Bristol, Va.), Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) and senior Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) notched a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:48.81.
- Senior Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) posted a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:01.64 and was ninth in the 100-yard free at :56.59.
- In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Tunstall, freshman Kenzie Welch (Knoxville, Tenn.), Mumpower and Anson clocked a 4:03.81 to take 10th.

The Men
- The Wasps opened the year by threatening a school record as freshmen Antonio Walters (Elon, N.C.), Luc Grillet (Matthews, N.C.), Noah Wilson (Frederick, Md.) and sophomore Braxton Justice (Spanishburg, W.Va.) went 1:35.61 to take ninth in the 200-yard freestyle relay to miss the program mark by 1.2 seconds.
- Sophomore Mack Henningsen (Abingdon, Va.) established the school record in the 1,650-yard freetsyle with a time of 20:28.54.
- Another relay record was close to falling as Wilson, Grillet, Walters and freshman Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) swam a 1:48.25 in the 200-yard medley relay to finish seventh, 0.29 seconds off the E&H milestone.
- Wilson and sophomore Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.) took ninth (2:15.10) and 10th (2:20.81), respectively in the 200-yard backstroke.

Next Up
- Emory & Henry will visit Ferrum College for a dual meet on Friday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m.
