EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams closed out the dual meet portion of their seasons on Saturday with a split dual against Hampden-Sydney College and Sweet Briar College. The Wasp women took down the Vixens by a 124-51 score while the E&H men fell to H-SC, 113-80.

The Men
- E&H won four events on the afternoon led by sophomore Braxton Justice's (Spanishburg, W.Va.) victory in the 50-meter freestyle (:26.25).
- Freshman Noah Wilson (Frederick, Md.) went a 1:07.34 in the 100-meter backstroke to finish first while freshman Luc Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:09.01.
- Wilson was the runner-up in the 200-meter individual medley while sophomore Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.) took second in the 800-meter freestyle.
- The Wasps ended the day with a thrilling victory in the 400-meter freestyle relay as freshman Antonio Walters (Elon, N.C.), Grillet, Wilson and Justice edged their Tiger opponents by 1.47 seconds (3:59.08).
The Women
- Emory & Henry won nine of the 10 events with senior Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) and freshman Kenzie Welch (Knoxville, Tenn.) taking a trio of firsts. Sophomore Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) had a pair of wins and a second-place finish.
- Anson got her first victory in the 200-meter individual medley (2:38.00) by 24.61 seconds and won the 100-meter butterfly by 10.41 seconds on a swim of 1:09.50. E&H took the top three spots in the butterfly.
- Welch won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:25.54 as the Wasps went 1-2-3 in the event and touched the wall first in the 400-free, nearly 50 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor (5:08.38).
-Sweigart finished first in the 100-meter freestyle (1:08.36) and helped the Wasps 1-2 the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:24.08. She was second in the 100-fly.
- Junior Lauren Trotter (Bristol, Va.) and sophomore Leah Mumpower (Bristol, Va.) both posted a pair of second-place individual finishes.
- E&H won both relays, as the team of sophomore Anne-Louise Tunstall (Mount Airy, N.C.), Welch, Mumpower and Anson went 4:42.37 in the 400-meter freestyle relay to cap the meet.
Up Next
- Emory & Henry will enter the championship portion of its season on the weekend of Thursday, February 6 through Sunday, February 9 at the 2020 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. The Greensboro Aquatic Center will again host the league meet.
