Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Compete Against Roanoke Saturday Afternoon

DALEVILLE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams competed against Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon at the Botetourt Family YMCA. The Maroon men picked up a 174-20 win over the Wasps while the RC women defeated E&H, 152-37.

The Men
- Junior Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.) posted a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, stopping the watches in 11:51.50. He was fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:32.33) and 100-yard backstroke (1:06.51).
- Freshman Neil Fredericksen (Ferrum, Va.) took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in :29.51 and was sixth in the 500-free. Senior Logan Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.) placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.17 and was also fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (:54.44).
- Sophomore Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (:59.35), the 500-yard freestyle (6:03.53) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.44).
- E&H's 400-yard medley relay turned in a third-place finish, touching the wall in 4:19.95.

The Women
- The Wasps' relay of sophomore Kenzie Welch (Knoxville, Tenn.), junior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.), and freshmen Liah Davis (Vinton, Va.) and Emy Youmans (Columbia, S.C.) got the meet started with a 4:32.33 in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing second.
- Welch picked up the win in the 1,000-yard freestyle, handing her Roanoke opponent her first dual-meet loss in three years with a time of 11:52.34. She was also third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.76).
- Sweigart earned runner-up honors in the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a 1:15.88, and was fourth in the 200-IM (2:33.25). Junior Leah Mumpower (Bristol, Va.) turned in a trio of fifth-place finishes in the 100-free, 100-breast and 200-IM.
- Youmans took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.31 and was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.96) while Davis was third in the 500-yard freestyle (6:16.38) and fifth in the 100-fly.
- Sophomore Paige Woodworth (Davidson, N.C.) finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking a 1:23.12, and placed fifth in the 50-free.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will be back at home next Saturday when it hosts Greensboro College in its final dual meet of the year. The first event is set for 1:00 p.m.
