Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Defeats Greensboro Saturday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams concluded the dual meet portion of their season on Saturday afternoon with a pair of victories over Greensboro College. The women's team dominated the Pride, 116-8, while the men earned a come-from-behind, 62-53.

The Men
- Senior Logan Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned a pair of wins on the day, taking first in the 400-meter freestyle (5:04.27) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:22.10). Smith was also second in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:28.98.
- Junior Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.) went 2:22.57 in the 200-meter freestyle to pick up the win and was second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:15.91) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:14.78).
- Sophomore Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) claimed a trio of runner-up finishes with swims of :27.72 in the 50-free, a 1:01.65 in the 100-free and a 1:24.99 in the 100-breast.
- Freshman Neil Fredericksen (Ferrum, Va.) took second in the 200-meter freestyle, swimming a 2:35.41 and, and was also second in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:47.23.

The Women
- Sophomore Kenzie Welch (Knoxville, Tenn.) picked up the first win of the day for E&H, touching the wall 10 seconds ahead of her closest competitor in the 200-meter freestyle (2:31.39). She also won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:20.34 and was second in the 400-free in 5:20.49.
- Junior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) won the 200-meter individual medley, stopping the watches in 2:47.11 and also took first in the 100-breast at 1:25.38.
- Freshman Emy Youmans (Columbia, S.C.) took first in 100-free (1:06.78) and the 400-free (5:12.35) and was second in the 200-IM at 2:51.12.
- Junior Leah Mumpower (Bristol, Va.) won the 50-meter freestyle in :32.13 and took second in the 100- free with a time of 1:12.93 and the 100-breast at 1:32.78.
- Freshman Liah Davis (Vinton, Va.) won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:17.68 and was second in the 200-free (2:41.56) and the 100-back (1:21.75).  

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will conclude the 2020-21 season at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. This year's event will be contested over two days in a timed finals format on Friday, March 4 and Sunday, March 6.
