Emory & Henry’s Cat Sweigart Named To The All-ODAC Women’s Swimming Third Team

FOREST, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Women's Swimming Team has seen one of its members named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Friday.

The all-conference teams are determined by placement in individual events at the ODAC Swimming Championships. Those placing first or second earned first-team distinction, while third- and fourth-place finishers were tabbed to the second team. The third team is comprised of fifth- and sixth-place swimmers.

Junior Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) has earned a spot on the all-league third team after finishing sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also took seventh in the 200-breast and was 13th in the 200-individual medley. 

This is Sweigart's second appearance on an All-ODAC squad as she was a third-team all-league performer as a freshman in 2019.

Roanoke College won its first-ever ODAC Men's Swimming Championship, led by Swimmer of the Meet Connor Kinkem and Rookie of the Meet, Jacob Winn. Maroon Head Coach Scott Thacker was selected as ODAC Coach of the Year by his peers.

On the women's wide, University of Lynchburg claimed the team title, paced by Rookie of the Meet Delaney Kennedy. Hornet mentor Brad Dunn was chosen as ODAC Coach of the Year. Roanoke's Kimberly Large brought home Simmer of the Meet accolades.

The Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award was given to Hanna DeVarona of Hollins University.

The ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athletes of the Year were selected by the league's sports information directors. Spencer Swam from Lynchburg and Katie Shoaf from Ferrum College were honored as this year's top student-athletes.
